Here are some quilting tips gathered from the Internet
Buying Quilt books:
If you are just starting out, before running out and buying a bunch of books, check with our guild library.
Labeling Class Items:
If you have lost scissors, thread etc in classes, now you can put an address label on your cutting mat, scissors, rotary cutter and so forth. When they are found, you'll now get a phone call and will be able to pick them up. You can also make a list of what you have brought and check it before you leave.
Storage Solution:
Save the zippered bags you get new sheet sets in to store your quilt projects that are in progress. They are big enough for your cut pieces and the finished blocks as you get them ready. The bag is clear so you can see at a glance what project it is and will keep everything together for you. When the top is done you can store it in the bag until you decide to finish the quilt.
That Pesky Iron:
One often forgets to turn off the iron when it isno longer needed, either because you're just doing something that does not require ironing, or you have left my sewing room. To resolve this issue, hook the iron to an extension cord with an ON and OFF switch as well as a lamp. When you need my iron On, just flip the switch ON and both the light and iron come on. The light is the indicator the iron is ON. When you're finished with the iron, all you have to do is flip the extension cord switch to off and the iron and the light both go off.
Great Quilt Supply Box:
A trip to the fishing department can net you a great storage solution for the tools you take to a quilt workshops and on the go projects. You can buy a soft side tackle tote that unfolds and has many zippered pockets. You will be able to have a second set of tools (rotary cutter and new blade, scissors, pins & needles, thread, ruler, marking pens, business or contact cards...etc.) All you need to remember is your sewing machine or project and you're out the door! So now you don't have to unpack my tools or pack my tools for that next workshop!
Small Wallhanging Solution:
You canuse the little hangers that come with socks to hang my wallhangings. Just hand tack them to the back of the wallhanging (use what you need to securely hang it) and viola! a inexpensive way to hang them.
