Pineapples

Join Irene to make this beautiful Pineapple Quilt.  Traditionally a hand-pieced block to insure accuracy,  let Irene teach you how to piece this block accurately on your machine using paper foundation

piecing. You will get all the tips and tricks you need to be successful. The finished quilt will measure 42” x 50”.

BASIC SEWING SUPPLIES.

Supplies:

• Book—Paper Piecing with Alex Anderson,

by Alex Anderson. From the book make copies for paper piecing—

20 of the Pineapple Block, pg 25.

21 of the Flying Geese block, pg 26

• Add-a-Quarter ruler

• Transparent Tape (scotch tape)

• Pins – long and straight (flower head pins

work great)

• Seam ripper

• Rotary cutter and small mat (12” x 18”)

• 6” or 8” x 12” and a 8 ½ “ bias square rulers

• Neutral thread (grey or ecru works)

Fabrics:

• 4 ½ yds total dark fabric for blocks & border

• 4 yds total neutral (light) fabric for blocks &

border

• Ό yard for inner border

Precutting is recommended. Cut several 1 ½”

strips from your dark and light fabrics, 25 – 3 ½”

squares of the dark fabrics and 25 – 1 ½” squares

of the dark fabric. Fabric for the flying geese

border will be cut in class.
