Block of the Month Every month a quilt block is
designed and the directions are put into the Newsletter. The
block is due at the business meeting of the following month.
This is totally volunteer participation. Everyone who turns in a
block has their name put into a drawing. Your name is put in
once for each block you turn in. A name is drawn and all
blocks are given to that person. It has been recommended that
you make two blocks, one to learn on and one to reinforce the
technique. This way you have one block to keep and one to turn
in. The Block of the Month Chairperson also has a collection
of paper piecing stamps that are available to be checked out by
members. Click Here to Get Block of The Month

Spring Break The Guild sponsors a 4-day
retreat in mid-March to provide instruction from national and local
quilt teachers. The Spring Break registration pamphlet is
distributed at the program meeting on the 4th Monday in
August. There is limited space, so early registration is
recommended.
Retreats The Guild sponsors a number of
retreats throughout the year. Retreats are housed at various
retreat centers throughout the area and include room and
board. Currently, retreats are in Gold Bar, Seabeck and Federal
Way. Retreat participants bring their own projects to work on
during the retreat. Retreat costs are fully paid by the
participants and require a deposit to hold a spot, with payment of
the balance prior to the event. Each retreat has a different
refund policy. Retreats generally fill up fast but there are
always waiting lists.
Satellite Groups Satellite groups are
sub-groups of the Guild, not sponsored by the Guild, that meet in
member's homes, usually twice a month. Members bring their own
lunch and a project to work on (generally hand work). The
hostess provides a beverage and dessert. Details are posted in
the Newsletter. These are fun grounds that share ideas, offer
support and help with small problems of quilt construction.
Anyone may attend but should contact the current hostess to ensure
there is sufficient space. Most quilters do not bring projects
requiring sewing machines.
Potlucks We generally have 2 potluck dinners
each year. The first is our annual picnic at the time of the
program meeting, the 4th Monday in August. The second is our
Holiday potluck, held the 2nd Monday in December. Each person
is asked to bring a disk to share and their own table settings and
beverage. The August picnic is combined with the introduction
of classes for the Spring Quilt Break Conference. The Holiday
potluck is combined with a voluntary holiday gift exchange.
Bring one gift-wrapped - take one home.
Bus
Trips A bus trip may be arranged by anyone in the Guild
volunteering for the task. In the past, we have taken bus
trips to the NW Quilters Quilt Show at Portland State University
with side shopping trips in Oregon. We have also taken bus
trips to LaConner, Washington to the Quilt Museum and their
anniversary celebrations. There are always fun trips and gives
Guild members a chance to meet and spend time with other Guild
members where you might not otherwise have the opportunity to do
so. These trips typically cost between $20-$30 per person
depending on the length and distance of the trip and how many Guild
members are going. If the Guild does not fill the bus after a
certain date, we offer openings to friends and/or members of other
guilds in our community.
Show and Tell Immediately following the
business meeting on the 2nd Monday of each month. Guild
members bring their latest creations (finished or not) to show
everyone. This is probably the most enjoyable part of our
meetings. We encourage all -
beginner or expert! You have never hears so many oohs and
aahs or had so much support for your project!
Local Quilt Guilds Evergreen Piecemakers is
among many quilt guilds in the state of Washington. As a
quilter, you may enjoy visiting or joining other Guilds as well as
support their quilt shows. Just to name a few in the immediate
area: Auburn - Northwest Quilters; Federal Way - Crazy
Quilters; Lynnwood - Quilters Anonymous; Maple Valley - Covington
Quilters; Puyallup - Comforters and Puyallup Valley Quilters;
Redmond - Block Party Quilters; Renton - Cedar River Quilters.
Other Quilt Related Resources The Association
of Pacific Northwest Quilters hosts a bi-yearly quilt show at
Seattle Center. Quilt Directory Northwest is available from
APNQ and has additional information. Quilts shops abound in
the area and can be found through telephone listings and word of
mouth from other quilters. Museums are also a great
source of inspiration also: LaConner Quilt Museum, Seattle Museum of
History and Industry; Auburn's White River Museum, and Bellevue's
Eastside Heritage Center.
