Begin to explore the use of
African/African-
American fabrics, designs and colors in
patchwork. We will learn about various African textiles
and their history. Various techniques for
creating alternative blocks will be
demon-strated. These blocks form the framework; and
when used in combination with other simple
shapes, forms and your individual color palette
will create an innovative work in the African
and African-American style. This is a perfect
opportunity to use those wonderful batik panels/blocks
that you have in your fabric stash, but do not
limit yourself – these techniques work with all
fabrics. Come with a sense of adventure, and
just have
fun.
Note: If you don’t work with ethnic
fabrics
and just want to explore color in a
different
way – this class is still for
you.
Dimensions will vary, your design determines
