"RAINIER
SCAPE"
We
would like to thank all the guild members who helped put together
the 2008 raffle quilt,"RAINIER SCAPE". The original pattern is
from Valori Wells of The Stitchin' Post. Our own Amber
Whitmayer redesigned the mountains from the Sisters Mountain in
Oregon to our beloved Mt. Rainier here in Washington.
Many
thanks go to Dewey Hawley who did a huge amount of the paper piecing
of this quilt (the trees, all the fish and a fair number of the
flowers in the center. Other members including Rosie Schrock, Amber
Whitmayer, Ada Kirmser, Diana Crawford and Mimi Miller did the
additional piecing. It is beautifully long arm quilted by fabulous
quilter Sharon Gorski.

In order to raise money
for Guild expenses, a raffle quilt is made each year.
Volunteers head up the Raffle Quilt Committee, who then select the
pattern, colors, fabrics, quilting design, etc. Most often,
kits are distributed and members make a block or two and turn
them in to the Committee. We try to stay 2 years ahead in
planning, as making a quality quilt takes
time.
